'Acts of kneading, Acts of wedging':
a day long workshop that we ran at Rochester Square -
2nd July 2019
About: the emphasis of this workshop was to encourage participants to think about materials and processes that can be employed to practically challenge cycles of exhaustion and waste in creative practices and through the workshop/dinner we create a space to discusses ways of creating sustainably. Sharing recipes, techniques, anecdotes and experiences.
Despite there being a unanimous understanding of both processes, Kneading and Wedging, everyones’ approach is inherently personalised; how much weight/force/movement/control/or lack of- is involved in order to prepare the perfect ‘dough/wedge’.
Food and clay are also linked through their social qualities and our essential dependence on them for nourishment, sustenance and shelter.
